To the leadership of the Labour Party

Amsterdam, 16 of June 2016

Dear friends,

Today we were devastated to learn that Labour Member of Parliament Jo Cox lost her life in a horrific manner. Our first thoughts go out to the family and friends of Jo. With her best days still ahead, she was brutally torn away from them. We cannot start to imagine the pain and loss that her husband, her two children and all other relatives and friends are currently suffering. On behalf of the Dutch Labour Party, we would like to extend our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to them through this letter.

Jo was known as a talented, promising and utterly motivated politician and as a kind-hearted person, striving to improve people’s lives. It is a great loss for her colleagues, the Labour Party and society that she is no longer with us. We stand with you in grief.

We stand shoulder to shoulder to ensure the values Jo fought for during her career will live on. We are very grateful for the many contributions that she has made.

We are extremely saddened to have lost such a committed comrade. Please accept our condolences.

Yours sincerely,

Hans Spekman, Chairman of the Dutch Labour Party
Kirsten Meijer, International Secretary of the Dutch Labour Party
